Job Function:
To prepare records of shipments and bills of lading and dray tickets for truck and rail carriers. Prepares records
of receipt of incoming material and equipment and posts to open orders of suppliers. Responsible for accuracy
of shipping documents and verifying receiving receipts with open orders.
Essential Functions:

Prepares bills of lading or dray tickets for each shipment and checks and records all
items loaded for shipment.

Posts shipments to customer orders and calculates balance yet to be shipped. Upon completion
of shipment, closes out orders and forwards document to production planning and accounting departments.

Notifies supervisor or planning department when major discrepancies occur, over-shipments or
substitutions have been made.

Maintains other shipping records such as goods returned, returnable pallets, dunnage, etc.

On received goods, checks and counts all items unloaded from railroad cars, trucks, or trailers.
Checks suppliers' count and reports discrepancies to carrier and to purchasing office.

Collects information for damage claims on in-transit damage.
Additional Responsibilities:

May move materials on shipping dock with hand truck.

On off-shifts may load trucks or railroad car using a forklift truck.
Job Qualifications:
-
Office clerical skills.
-
Some physical effort required in lifting less than pallet loads of goods to hand truck.

Valid state motor vehicle operator's permit for operation of forklift truck.
